| Version 2.0 Now Available (January 30, 2007) |
An updated version of the downloadable child support calculator is now available. This new release includes:
- All required data fields in the downloadable calculator now appear on the first page (worksheet) of the spreadsheet, called the "Start" page, and very little direct data entry is required on the forms. Data entry fields on the forms are all optional, and include information such as secondary education costs, health care and child care costs, and amounts of previous child support orders.
- New alerts have been added to the calculator, which appear when a user attempts to calculate an obligation for some scenarios which are not covered by the calculator (see Notice).
Please download the new version of the downloadable calculator so that you can take advantage of these updates, and please review the user guide for instructions on using this calculator.

Overview
The downloadable Child Support Calculator is a Microsoft
Excel file
that includes:
- Child Support Obligation Worksheet (CSOW )
- Parenting Time Credit Worksheet (PTCW)
- Post-Secondary Education Worksheet (PSEW)
- Guideline Schedule for Weekly Support Payments
- Parenting Time Table
How It Works
You'll begin with the CSOW at Step One, where you
will enter information that does not appear on the worksheet or
that is not represented numerically on the worksheet. This information
is required to create an accurate obligation calculation. Step
Two is the CSOW itself. All fields that require data to be entered
are highlighted in yellow, and you may progress through these fields
by pressing the 'Tab' button on your keyboard.
The next step is to complete the PSEW—if applicable—and
then the PTCW. Again, all fields that require data to be entered
are highlighted in yellow on these worksheets. In addition, fields
that do not require data to be entered are locked, so that you
may not change their contents. Moreover, information you enter
on the CSOW that is to be repeated on the other worksheets—such
as Matter, Case Number, and Parents' names—need only be entered
one time.
The Guideline Schedule and Parenting Time Tables are not editable
and are only included because the calculations in the worksheets
reference that data. However, you may refer to them within
this document if you need to.
After you have completed all the necessary fields, you may save
the document to your hard drive for later reference (you might
choose to name the file by the case number or matter so that it
has a unique file name). Then, you simply print the CSOW, PSEW
(again, if applicable), and PTCW to your local printer. Only the
contents
of the court forms will be printed.
Benefits of This Calculator
This version of
the Child Support Calculator has several benefits:
- Does not require an Internet connection (except to download).
- Allows the user to visualize the worksheets as they are completed.
- A file for each case can be saved separately and reopened and
modified if necessary.
- Allows the user to try different numbers and scenarios when
calculating child support obligation with ease.
How to Download
To download this version of
the Child Support Calculator, simply right-click on the
link below (or the link at the upper right), select 'Save Target As' from
the context menu that appears, and then choose a location on your
computer where you can easily access the file (suggestions: your
desktop, your My Documents folder, etc.).
This file is not a standard .XLS file, but rather, is an Excel
Template .XLT file. Each time you save a calculation you should
be prompted to save the file as an .XLS file so that you cannot
overwrite
the
template.
