(B) Numbering System. The uniform case numbering system shall consist of four
groups of characters arranged in a manner to identify the court, the year/month
of filing, the case type and the filing sequence. The following is
an example of the case number to be employed:
The last two characters of the first group shall distinguish between courts in
counties having more than one court of a specific type. The following
code sets forth the county and court identifier for all courts:

(3) Case type. The third group of two characters shall designate the
type of proceeding utilizing the following case classification code:

Separate dockets need not be maintained for each type.
The amendment to Subsection 1 regarding Marion County Superior Court shall take effect
on January 1, 2001. The amendments to Subsection 3 regarding new case
type categories shall take effect on January 1, 20002.
The Clerk of this Court is directed to forward a copy of this
Order to the Clerk of each Circuit Court in the State of Indiana;
to the Attorney General of Indiana; to the Legislative Services Agency; to the
Office of Code Revision, Legislative Services Agency; to the Administrator, Supreme Court of
Indiana; to the Administrator, Indiana Court of Appeals; to the Administrator, Indiana
Tax Court; to the Public Defender of Indiana; to the Indiana Supreme Court
Disciplinary Commission; to the Indiana Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education; to
the Indiana Board of Law Examiners; to the Indiana Judicial Center; to the
Executive Director, Division of State Court Administration; to the libraries of all law
schools in this state; to the Department of Correction for posting at all
prison libraries; to the Michie Company; and to West Publishing Company.
West Publishing Company is directed to publish this Order in the advance sheets
of this Court.
The Clerks of the Circuit Courts are directed to bring this Order to
the attention of all judges within their respective counties and to post this
Order for examination by the Bar and general public.
