Each year the state provides over $2 billion in property tax relief. During this past session, lawmakers worked hard to provide additional state relief to offset the anticipated property tax changes this year. While this has mitigated the impact on many homeowners, more needs to be done by state and local officials to reform our property tax system and bring long-term permanent relief.
This is an opportunity for state and local officials to dramatically improve our tax system.
As the members of the Senate Democratic Caucus continue to work with our colleagues in the General Assembly to develop bipartisan solutions, I would also encourage you to contact your legislators to share your ideas and thoughts on tax reform.
