Connersville Native Joins Senate Staff

(STATE HOUSE)—Connersville native Carrie (Orr) Zapfe recently accepted the position of policy analyst with the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus.

She previously served as a Communications Specialist for the Indiana Senate in 2001 and 2002. Her new duties include tracking legislation and policy issues to provide support to caucus members and the Senate Majority Communications Department.

“As we modernize and expand our communications efforts, Carrie’s knowledge and experience will be great assets to the Indiana State Senate,” said State Sen. Teresa Lubbers (R-Indianapolis) said. “We are delighted that she has decided to share her talents as a member of the Senate staff.”

Zapfe is a 1992 graduate of Connersville High School. She earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in History from Purdue University prior to joining the Connersville-News Examiner in 1999 as a Staff Writer covering education and local government. She also served as Press Secretary for the Indiana Republican Party, Communications Director for the Indiana House Republican Campaign Committee and Scheduler for Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter.

“I am delighted to return to the Indiana State Senate,” Zapfe said. “This is a wonderful and extremely exciting opportunity to use my passion for public policy to help the citizens of the State of Indiana.”

She is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. James R. Orr of Connersville. She and her husband Matthew, Co-Director of the Senate Majority Campaign Committee, reside in Greenwood and are members of Trinity Episcopal Church in Indianapolis.
