Senate Leaders select Mishler as Assistant Majority Whip

State leaders today tapped Sen. Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) as new Assistant Majority Whip of the Indiana Senate’s Republican Caucus, according to President ProTem David Long.

Mishler, who represents Senate District 9, will replace former Sen. Vic Heinold (R-Kouts), who left the Senate earlier this summer after being relocated out-of-state by his employer.

“In his time with us, Sen. Mishler has proven himself to be a very capable colleague and dependable part of the Republican Senate team,” Long said. “I’m confident he’ll continue the same high quality efforts his predecessor provided the people of Indiana.”

In his new leadership role, Mishler will work closely with Sen. Brandt Hershman (R-Wheatfield), the Senate’s Majority Whip, in identifying solutions to problems facing fellow Hoosiers, coordinating legislative proposals and garnering support for important amendments and bills.

“He’s a dynamic young leader and well respected among both Democrats and Republicans,” Hershman said. “This gives him even greater opportunities to serve his constituents, the caucus and the people of Indiana.”
