To arrange for your class (grades 8 through graduate school), organization, department, or group to tour the Indiana State Library, please call the library at 317-232-3675, or our IN-Watts line at 1-800-622-4970. Tours may take place Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., but must be arranged at least two weeks in advance.
Attend a free orientation tour to learn where the genealogical tools you need are located. Learn what resources the Indiana State Library holds for genealogists, and where to find them in the newly-renovated building.
This tour will show you where to find family histories, city directories, county records, census microfilm, Indiana newspapers, genealogy periodicals, manuscripts, and more. Learn where the pamphlets are located, which computers can be used with the extensive CD collection, and where various indexes can be found. The tour includes all public areas on the first and second floors of the Indiana State Library and Historical Building.
This is NOT a how-to-research session. Instead, this is your opportunity to have an in-depth tour of the facility's genealogical holdings.
All tours begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. Each tour will last approximately one and one-half hours, and is limited to 15 attendees. Pre-registration is required. To register, please call the library at 317-232-3675, or our IN-Watts line at 1-800-622-4970.
