More than 50 volunteers met at Watkins Park Family Center Friday, January 13, 2012 for the First Annual Dr. King Day of Service, sponsored by the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, Indiana Black Expo, Inc., the City of Indianapolis and Indy Parks.
Volunteers assisted in various indoor and outdoor projects at the Watkins Park Family Center, the Flanner House, IPS School 44 and cleaning alongside Edgemont Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street.
The King Day of Service was intended to both improve a neighborhood in Indianapolis and act as a catalyst for individuals to get involved in other projects in Indiana.
