JB Waterworks Rate Case

Subscribe for e-mail updates

The IURC approved new rates for JB Waterworks, Inc. in an April 2020 order. JB Waterworks is a privately owned utility providing service in LaPorte County.

A monthly residential water bill for 5,000 gallons will rise from $27.43 to $43.94 under the OUCC's recommendations (Corey and Seals), which were accepted by the utility and approved by the Commission. The utility's original request would have raised the billing amount to $51.39.

The OUCC issued a November 6, 2019 news release to invite consumer comments.

All publicly filed documents are available online in the IURC case file.

JB Waterworks requested the increase through the state's Small Utility Filing Procedure. The procedure is a streamlined process aimed at reducing rate case expenses. But the standard of review by the OUCC and IURC is the same as in all rate cases.

The utility's previous rates were approved in 2012.
