Current base rates for the City of Auburn's municipal electric utility were approved in 1989. In the IURC's most recent survey of residential electric rates, Auburn Municipal Utility rates ranked lowest among the 14 electric utilities under IURC jurisdiction.
Auburn, the OUCC and Metal Technologies, Inc. have reached a settlement agreement in the utility's pending rate case. The agreement was filed with the IURC on September 9, 2014. The IURC may approve, modify or reject a settlement in any case.

An IURC public field hearing was held on June 11 in Auburn. The OUCC issued a May 27 news release to invite public comments.
Auburn and other electric utilities are also allowed to adjust rates periodically through IURC proceedings, to recover wholesale power and fuel costs on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
