On July 11, 2007, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) issued a final order in the Elkhart municipal water rate case (Cause No. 43191), approving a settlement agreement between the City of Elkhart and the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC).
The agreement will allow the monthly water bill for an average residential customer using 700 cubic feet to increase from $8.88 to $12.68. It will be Elkhart's first water rate increase since 1993. (Rates for former Suburban Utility customers will decrease to the same levels that are charged for all other Elkhart municipal water customers.)
A copy of the IURC order, with the settlement agreement attached, is available on the IURC Website by clicking here. The 17-page document is in PDF format, requires Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view, and will open in a new window.
