PPCC award recognizes excellence in fund management and administration
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 16, 2007) – A commitment to customer service, sound management and effective administration has resulted in the Indiana Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF) being named among an exclusive handful of public pension plans in the nation.
The recognition comes in the form of an Award of Excellence from the Public Pension Coordinating Council (PPCC), a coalition of three national associations that represent public retirement systems and administrators. Of more than 500 retirement systems eligible to apply, only 58 received the Award of Excellence in 2006.
PERF Executive Director Terren B. Magid noted the PPCC recognition is a byproduct of PERF’s focus on customer service. “This recognition reflects a great deal of hard work by the entire PERF team,” Magid said. “The unqualified audit opinion we received last year and the 200,000 annual member statements we mailed for the first time this year were among the accomplishments that made this award possible.”
To receive the award, PERF met requirements in six areas, including a comprehensive benefit program, funding adequacy, actuarial evaluation, an unqualified audit opinion, investments, and member communication. This is the first time PERF has received the annual award.
“Customer confidence in PERF is exceptional,” said Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. “This recognition is independent validation the agency is providing a superior level of service and carefully managing member accounts.”
