Indiana State Police and the Grant County Joint Effort Against Narcotics Team (J.E.A.N. Team) arrested a Marion, Indiana man at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon on drug charges.
Senior Trooper Ron Halbert Jr., marijuana eradication coordinator for the Redkey District, obtained a search warrant from Grant County Superior Court II this afternoon after receiving a tip that marijuana was growing outside a rural residence. The plants were visually confirmed by troopers in an Indiana State Police helicopter.
Halbert and J.E.A.N. Team officers served the search warrant at the residence of Thomas L. Kelly age 53, 671 N. C.R. 500 E. Marion, Indiana and located marijuana plants growing outside and processed marijuana inside the house. Kelly was arrested without incident after he arrived home, and preliminarily charged with:
- Cultivating marijuana over 30 grams, class "D" felony.
- Maintaining a common nuisance, class "D" felony.
Kelly was taken to the Grant County Jail where he was held on $5,000.00 bond.
