Madison: Late this afternoon Indiana State Police and Madison Police Department detectives arrested 36 year old Jack Edwards, Jr. of Madison in connection with the deaths of 26 year old Cindy Mauntel and 20 year old Ranear Kirksey both of Cincinnati.  Indiana State Police and Madison detectives have been working continuously on the investigation which began Monday morning, August 25 when Madison Police received a disturbance call at 810 Walnut St and discovered the bodies Mauntel, already deceased, and Kirksey along with 20 year old David Summerlin who were both seriously injured.  Kirksey later died as a result of the injuries sustained in the incident.

After a thorough crime scene investigation, numerous interviews with witnesses, and review of all evidence Edwards was arrested today in Madison without incident.  Formal charges will be filed next week and at that time all affidavits and other court documents currently sealed by court order should be available for public review.

Edwards is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail facing preliminary charges of two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
