LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces State Road 39 (S.R. 39) will be closed at the Norfolk Southern Railroad crossing between LaPorte County roads 1750S and 1800S in LaPorte County Sept. 8-12. This will allow Norfolk Southern crews to resurface the crossing.

Residents and businesses will have access to their properties on either side of the closure, but through traffic will be detoured. Posted signs will direct northbound S.R. 39 traffic to take State Road 8 (S.R. 8) west to U.S. 421 north to U.S. 6 east and back to S.R. 39. Southbound traffic will be directed to take U.S. 6 west to U.S. 421 south to S.R. 8 east and back to S.R. 39.

The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather. INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a highway construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot.
