NEW HAVEN - Ron Stiver, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) today officially opened the new New Haven license branch at 701 Lincoln Highway West as part of Governor Daniels program to improve customer service at the BMV.
Joined by branch staff for the ribbon cutting, Stiver commented, "New Haven has consistently been one of the busiest license branches in the state, but has not had the best facilities to serve our customers. While staying in the same conveniently-located retail center, this new branch incorporates our customer friendly design with an improved layout. Convenient parking areas have also been expanded."
He noted, "While operating in less than ideal space, the New Haven staff has worked hard to provide quality service. Average visit times have decreased from over 12 minutes in 2007 to 8 minutes 30 seconds in 2008. We are confident that this new branch design will help improve customer service even more."
In 2007 the New Haven branch was the busiest in the State with 103,436 visits and 137,801 transactions. Through September 16 of this year, New Haven was the fourth busiest with 70,686 visits and 125,838 transactions.
Stiver also noted that the BMV has implemented a number of new ways for customers to do business with the BMV without visiting a license branch, including improved online services and partnerships with auto dealers, AAA Hoosier Motor Club and Old National Bank. Although many customers have used these new methods, some still need or prefer to visit a branch. For those Hoosiers, the BMV has focused on improving the branch experience with better customer service and improved facilities where needed.
