PRESS RELEASE
Indiana Department of Labor's Bureau of Child Labor to Begin Offering Free Training Seminars
Indianapolis, IN August 25, 2009 - The Indiana Department of Labor (IDOL) is pleased to announce that the Indiana Bureau of Child Labor is offering free training seminars covering Indiana's Child Labor laws. Training seminars are one-hour in length and discuss all aspects of employing minors from obtaining a work permit through the termination of employment. The intent is to keep teen workers safe as well as help employers, educators and minors comply with Indiana's Child Labor laws.
With the Bureau of Child Labor's new plan, live trainings are scheduled in a different region of the state each month. The Bureau of Child Labor is also offering several teleconferenced trainings that can be attended via telephone from anywhere in the state. Space is limited and registration for each live seminar and teleconference is required.
Seminars are scheduled through the end of 2009 with more dates planned for 2010. Trainings are open to everyone-employers, educators, parents and minors. Each seminar and teleconference will cover the same topics and ample time will be allotted for a question and answer session.
Director of Child Labor Kenneth Boucher stated, "We seem to get a lot of the same questions from employers, educators and minors statewide about Indiana Child Labor laws. Our goal is to make sure we are all looking at the same laws the same way."
