U.S. 24 Lane Restriction Scheduled to Begin Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26, due to Resurface Project

Stimulus funds pay for asphalt resurface project in two counties

HUNTINGTON/WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District announces that U.S. 24 will be restricted to one 12-foot lane with one lane being closed at a time due to an asphalt pavement project. The limits of the project are, from 1.66 miles east of S.R. 9 in Huntington County, to 0.74 mile east of S.R. 114 in Whitley County. Signage is scheduled for placement tomorrow, with the project beginning next week. The contractor may begin with the eastbound lanes.
This project is expected to continue through late October during daylight hours.  The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather.
Funding for this project is through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The 10-mile contract was awarded to Brooks Construction in May based on the contractor's low bid of $2.7 million.
