S.R. 26 Closure in Grant County Begins Next Monday, August 31

Stimulus funds pay for sight distance improvement project

GRANT COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District announces that S.R. 26, at C.R. 750 South, 1 mile south of Upland, will be closed for 90 calendar days beginning August 31, due to a sight distance improvement project.
The official detour is eastbound S.R. 26 to I-69 north and S.R. 22 east.  Westbound S.R. 26 traffic will utilize S.R. 22 west and I-69 south.  This adds four miles for thru traffic.
The project should be complete by late November.  The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) will fund this project.  The contract was awarded to Calumet Civil based on the company's low bid of $990,000.
