INDIANAPOLIS - Denae Pyle of Kosciusko County overcame 87 other contestants to earn the title of Miss Indiana State Fair during today's final day of the queen pageant in the Pepsi Coliseum. The Silver Lake native is the first Kosciusko County Fair Queen to win the State Fair title.
"I'm so excited. I know a lot of the past queens and I'm excited to be one of them now," said Pyle. "There's so much to learn about the fair that I don't know yet and I'm really looking forward to it."
Pyle, 19, will be a sophomore at Purdue University, majoring in hospitality and tourism management. In her spare time she enjoys sports, being outdoors and showing livestock. She succeeds Haleigh Yergler of Porter County and will begin representing the State Fair in 2010. Here are the results of the Top 10 finalists:
The Queen's Court:
- 1st Runner-up - Stephanie Flint, Pike County
- 2nd Runner-up - Kirsten Fletter, Allen County
- 3rd Runner-up - Whitney Wesley, Delaware County
- 4th Runner-up - Kalyn Rose, Parke County
