ALLEN/ DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District announces that I-69, at mile marker 119, over Cedar Creek, will be restricted to one 13-foot lane in each direction due to reconstruction of bridge approaches beginning this Sunday, August 30, at 9 p.m. Initially, the removal and reconstruction of the southbound driving lane bridge approach will occur, followed by the northbound driving lane approach with work complete by early September. Upon completion of both driving lanes, the southbound and northbound passing lanes will be rebuilt in late-September. A 55 mph zone will be enforced and wide loads will not be permitted, from mile marker 117 to mile marker 121 during the construction of the approaches. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures for patching.
Resurfacing of I-69, which includes the approaches, from just north of Dupont Road to just south of C.R. 11-A will occur in late September; the entire project should be complete by late October.
Funding for this project is through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The contract was awarded to E&B Paving based on the company's low bid of $3.4 million.
