Chain O'Lakes State Park will sponsor a canned food drive over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4-7, to benefit the Albion Food Pantry.
Campers, cabin guests and day visitors are encouraged to drop off canned or non-perishable foods at the campground gate, main gate, the main office or nature center any time over the weekend.
"With the coming of the cooler weather and the end of the gardening season, we expect an increased need for our services,' said Jim McCoy, who works at the pantry.
Howard Luehrs, naturalist at the state park, has a goal of 500 cans/non-perishable goods.
"I'd like to have campers to clean out their cabinets for goods they no longer need or can spare," he said. "This is a way of park guests saying thank you to area residents for sharing their resource with us."
