(STATEHOUSE) Sept. 10, 2009 - Indiana Senate President Pro Tem David Long (R-Fort Wayne) today named Brownsburg native Skip Brown as policy analyst and staff writer for the Senate Majority Communications Office.
Brown is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he double-majored in political science and journalism. After completing his degree, he moved to Washington, D.C. where he served as a communications aide to Congressman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and Congressman Joe Pitts (R-Pa.). Brown left Capitol Hill in 2007, returning home to Indiana where he worked for nearly two years in the public relations department of the Indy Racing League.
"Skip's experience in both political and business communications will be a great asset to Senate Republicans," Long said. "As a native Hoosier, he shares our pride for Indiana, and he will be a big help as we continue working to make it a great place to live and work for families."
As a senate policy analyst, Brown will join a team responsible for print, radio, television and e-communications for the 33-member GOP caucus. His analysis and research will assist the senate's efforts to address a broad range of issues impacting Hoosiers.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join the Senate Republican caucus as it works toward ensuring a bright future for our state," Brown said. "I look forward to getting involved and making a difference."
Brown, a 1999 graduate of Brownsburg High School, is the son of Walt and Sherry Brown of Brownsburg. He and his wife, Lindsey, live in the Broad Ripple area on the north side of Indianapolis.
