Yoder: Middlebury Little League team to be honored at Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 11, 2009) - Little League baseball players from Middlebury will be honored by State Sen. Carlin Yoder (R-Middlebury) and his fellow lawmakers on Tuesday for the team's accomplishments at the Junior League World Series last season.

Yoder invited the Middlebury Junior All Stars to the Statehouse to congratulate the team on their victories at both the State and Central Region Championships.  The team also placed third in the World Series in August last year.

"These players demonstrated determination and perseverance throughout the 2009 Little League season," Yoder said. "Their accomplishments deserve to be recognized, and I look forward to
welcoming them to the Statehouse."

When the team visits, Yoder will present each of the players with a resolution congratulating the Middlebury Junior All Stars on all their achievements during the 2009 season.

Middlebury residents and businesses supported the 14- and 15-year-old players as they made their way to the World Series. After competing in the tournament, the Middlebury Junior All Stars ranked second in the United States and third in the world.

Players to be honored include Shannon Baker, Erik Beck, Levi Benton, Drew Burgess, Arick Doberenz, Blake Fry, Hunter Goodwin, Alan Grusy, Jeremy Hochstetler, Brock Logan, Austin Moniot, Caleb Stayton, Judah Zickafoose.

Sen. Yoder represents Senate District 12, which includes portions of Elkhart County.
