Indiana Gaming Commission
The mission of the commission is to license and regulate riverboat gambling in Indiana and ensure compliance with applicable statutes, rules and regulations in a manner that promotes the integrity of gaming and the best interest of the State of Indiana and its citizens.
Membership: seven gubernatorial appointees
Governor's appointments:
- Marc Fine (Evansville), partner at Rudolph, Fine, Porter & Johnson, LLP
- Tim Murphy (Fishers), retired CFO of Irwin Mortgage Corporation. Reappointment.
Terms expire September 1, 2010.
State Board of Nursing
The board licenses and regulates the practice of registered nursing, practical nursing and advanced practice nursing and also accredits undergraduate nursing programs.
Membership: nine gubernatorial appointees
Governor's appointments:
- Marcia Laux, RN (Martinsville), clinical assistant professor at Indiana University -Bloomington
- Connie McIntosh, RN (Muncie), associate coordinator for extended education at Ball State University
- Linda Narwold, RN (Kokomo), clinical professor at Indiana University - Kokomo
Terms expire July 1, 2011.
Real Estate Commission
The commission can issue, deny, suspend and revoke Realtor licenses and can also investigate complaints concerning licensees or persons the commission has reason to believe should be licensees and take legal actions against offenders.
Membership: 12 gubernatorial appointees
Governor's appointments:
- Mike Lunsford (Yorktown), president and CEO of Coldwell Banker/Lunsford Realty
Term expires May 1, 2011.
BMV Commission
The commission develops and updates the bureau's policies, recommends legislation needed to implement policies, determines the number and location of license branches and establishes minimum standards for the operation and maintenance of each full service license branch.
Membership: four gubernatorial appointees, BMV Commissioner
Governor's appointments:
- Taja Graham (Fishers), new business development manager for Emmis Communications
Term expires July 1, 2008.
Workers' Compensation Board
The board is tasked with hearing and reviewing all claims for compensation under Indiana's workers' compensation laws. Board members also have the authority to require medical service for injured workers, approve claims for medical and attorney fees, approve judgments, modify awards and otherwise make conclusions of facts and rulings of law.
Membership: seven gubernatorial appointees
Governor's appointments:
- Gerald Ediger (Fort Wayne), former associate general counsel and chief compliance officer for The Medical Protective Company
Term expires September 1, 2009.
State Board of Dentistry
The board licenses and regulates dentistry and its related professions in Indiana. Board members review applications from persons desiring to begin the practice of dentistry in the state and schedule examinations for applicants. The board also issues permits to administer general anesthesia or sedation.
Membership: 11 gubernatorial appointments
Governor's appointments:
- Steven Hollar (Warsaw), dentist, Dental Health, P.C.
- Ted Rokita (Munster), private practice dentist
- Gary Haller (Huntingburg), partner and dentist, Five Star Family Dental Clinic
- Charles Heape (Sullivan), private practice dentist
- Phil Catey (Gas City), owner and dentist, Catey Dentistry
- Laverne Whitmore (Indianapolis), dental hygienist. Reappointment.
Terms expire July 1, 2011.
