If you are unable to get the information you need through the online Business Entity Name Search or the Check Name Availability search, there is another option. By completing the form below, you may request an IN.GOV "custom" search of the Secretary of State's Business Entity Database.
There is a minimum fee of $25.00 per search; for results of 1,000 entities or more, a fee of 2.5 cents per additional entity name applies. To submit a search request, complete the form below and click on submit. IN.GOV will conduct the custom search and notify you via email of the number of entities which resulted. At that time, you must either provide credit card information or your IN.GOV account number in order to submit your payment. An electronic file of the search results will be emailed to you upon receipt of payment. Click here for more information about how these fees help support IN.GOV.
Some notes for searching:
- SEARCH TYPE
- "Agent" refers to the Registered Agent of the business/entity.
- "Principal" refers to persons, officers or officials of a business/entity, such as president, treasurer, partner, etc. Not all principals associated with an entity are captured in the database.
- "Agent or Principal" searches will return results where the name is found to match as either a Registered Agent or a principal.
- "Entity" searches are done on the name of the business/entity.
- ENTITY NAME SEARCH
The results for an entity name search will return names that include all of the words entered in the same order they are entered. It is a wild card search, so it will return names that also have additional words. For example, a search for "HOMEOWNERS ASSOCATION" could return "HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION OF DELAWARE, INC", "FIRST CITY HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION, INC" and "HOMEOWNERS AND LOT OWNERS ASSOCIATION OF CLEAR LAKE, INC,". It would not return "ASSOCIATION OF HOMEOWNERS, INC." because the order of "HOMEOWNERS" and "ASSOCIATION" does not match the order as entered.
- DOMESTIC / FOREIGN
Domestic refers to entities which are formed in Indiana making it their home state for legal purposes. Foreign refers to entities that are formed in another state as their home state but also perform a secondary registration in Indiana.
- INFORMATION NOT INCLUDED
County names and Business classifications for entities are not available in the database, therefore searches cannot be performed according to that criteria. Also, the Secretary of State does not capture phone numbers for entities. Please reference the data format information for the fields which may be searched.
