Looking to become a licensed vehicle manufacturer in the state of Indiana? Just follow the steps below and you will be on your way!
Step 1 - Important legal review
We encourage those wanting to obtain their vehicle manufacturer license in the state of Indiana to review the state laws and codes regarding manufacturing licensing. Please, read Indiana codes 9-18-26, 9-23-2, and Indiana administrative code 75 before moving on to Step 2.
Step 2 - Completing the application
Below are the steps to successfully complete the application to become a licensed vehicle manufacturer in the state of Indiana. In order to acheive superior service, accuracy and cost savings, please read the application and fill it out completely.
Documents the division supplies
- Vehicle manufacturer application form - make sure to check the "manufacturer" box in section nine.
Documents you must obtain and provide to the division
- Registered retail merchant certificate
- Dealer bond - click here to learn more about the bond requirments
- Zoning approval - completed on bottom of vehicle manufacturer application by local zoning board
- Insurance (Certificate of Liability)
- Pictures of building, lot, sign and hours of operation
- Copy of Certificate of Incorporation or Certificate of Organization from the Indiana Secretary of State’s Business Services Division
- Please provide federal ID number with documentation from Internal Revenue Service
- Please provide social security numbers for owners/partners/directors/officers listed on auto dealer application
Step 3 - Sign, seal and mail!
