Matt Tusing - Chief of Staff

Tusing joins Secretary Rokita after working for the Indiana Attorney General's office, where he advised on matters related to professional licensing and investigations. He previously served Indiana as Deputy Communications Director in the Indiana House of Representatives. He is a graduate of Warsaw Community High School and holds a degree from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. He is concurrently finishing a law degree with Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis.

Jerry Bonnet - Chief Legal Counsel

A native of Yorktown Indiana, Jerry spent 18 years practicing commercial law in Texas and Louisiana. Bonnet holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, a law degree from the University of Tennessee, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans, and a Masters in International Business and Finance from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is currently working on his Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University. He lives in Hamilton county with his wife Monica and children Jeffrey, Rachael and Gabriel

Jim Gavin - Communications Director

Jim Gavin is a native of Southern Indiana, having grown up in Madison (Jefferson County).  He is a former broadcast journalist who has been a news reporter and anchor in two Indiana television markets.  In Indianapolis he spent five years at WXIN-TV (Fox 59) and previously worked in Evansville at WTVW-TV.  He earned a degree in telecommunications from Ball State University.  Jim became Director of Communications in May of 2008 after most recently working in Corporate Communications at Indiana’s largest corporation, WellPoint, Inc.  Jim resides in New Palestine in Hancock County with his wife Natalie and their two children.  He enjoys coaching youth baseball and soccer and playing basketball and golf.

Michelle Gough - Deputy Communications Director / Legal Affairs Consultant

Michelle Gough joined the office in August 2007 after practicing law in Kentucky. She received her B.A. from DePauw University in English Literature and earned her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington. Following law school, Gough completed a judicial clerkship under the Hon. Susan Wesley McClure in the 4 th Judicial Circuit of Kentucky, and then worked for a private firm before returning to her home state. Gough continues to write on current legal issues and most recently presented a paper on civil rights issues at the Education Law Association's annual conference in San Diego, California.

Marisa Smith - Director of Operations

After working 5 years in the private sector, Marisa joined Secretary Rokita’s staff in the summer of 2006 while completing her Bachelor’s degree at IUPUI.  Marisa has served in various capacities throughout the office before moving into her current position.  As Director of Operations, Marisa manages the day-to-day operations, as well as any HR responsibilities for the Secretary of State’s office.  An Indianapolis native, Marisa is married with two young children.

Keisha Johnson - Constituent Services

Keisha joined the office in summer of 2007 as an intern while pursuing an accounting degree from IUPUI and now serves as our Constituent Services liaison.  Her commitment to service, attention to detail, ability to problem solve, coupled with a wonderful smile and positive attitude offers a welcoming presence to staff and visitors. In her current position, Keisha enjoys working with constituents who contact the office with a variety of requests, issues and concerns. “I really enjoy engaging our constituents and feel a true sense of accomplishment when I am able to listen, understand, and facilitate the resolution of constituent concerns through coordination with the appropriate state agency and/or office."   Originally from Louisiana, Keisha has quickly become a full-fledged Hoosier.

Liz Keele - Business Services Director

Liz Keele has been serving as Director of Business Services since Secretary Rokita took office January 2003. One of the busiest divisions of the office, it has had the greatest technological advancements in the past few years offering services around the clock. After receiving her B.S. in Management from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Liz started public service by serving as Chief Deputy in the Marion County Assessor’s office and then elected to the position of Pike Township Assessor. With over 28 years of working experience, she is familiar with managing projects that will streamline procedures and be cost effective for the state of Indiana. Liz serves on the National Secretary of States’ Company Formation Task Force. Currently overseeing the imaging of five (5) million documents in the Business Services Division Liz continues to enjoy answering the varied questions customers bring to the division every day.

A.D. Reeves - Dealer Services Director

A.D. Reeves joined the Secretary of State’s office as the Director of the Dealers Section in October 2007. After spending the last two years practicing business development in the private sector, he joined the office to head up the newly acquired division upon its transfer to the Secretary of States office. A.D. recently ran for City Council At Large in the City of Lawrence narrowly losing his bid for office by 8 votes. A.D. also ran for State Representative of House District 95 in the spring of 2006. A.D. enjoys politics, golfing and spending time with his family. He received his bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Ball State University.

Chris Naylor - Securities Commissioner

Chris Naylor is the Indiana Securities Commissioner.  Appointed by Secretary of State Rokita in October 2007, Mr. Naylor oversees the enforcement, registration, corporation finance, and education sections of the Indiana Securities Division, as well as the Prosecution Assistance Unit of the Securities Division.  Prior to his appointment as Securities Commissioner, Mr. Naylor served in the Securities Division as the lead attorney of the Prosecution Assistance Unit. Mr. Naylor previously served as the Prosecuting Attorney for Jefferson and Switzerland Counties in Indiana from 2003 through 2006.  He holds a B.A. degree from DePauw University and is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.

Brad King - Co-Director

Brad King is a native of Omega, Indiana. He received his B.A. in History and Political Science (with honors) from Indiana University, and his J.D. from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.  Brad served as Senior Staff Attorney, Legislative Services Agency (and counsel to the Indiana House and Senate Elections Committees). Later he served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Indianapolis, and counsel to the Marion County Board of Voter Registration.  From 1992-1999, he was Co-General Counsel to the Indiana Election Commission. Brad then served as State Elections Director for the Secretary of State of Minnesota from 1999-2002, and currently serves as Co-Director of the Indiana Election Division of the Office of the Secretary of State. Through the years, he has had the privilege of advising and assisting county election officials, candidates, and political party officials throughout Indiana, and but still encounters new and challenging questions during each election cycle.

Pamela Potesta - Co-Director

Pam Potesta has served as co-director of the Indiana Election Division since February, 2007. Prior to that, Pam worked as campaign finance coordinator for the Division for nine years.  Originally from Hammond, IN, Pam is a graduate of  Indiana University.  Her greatest joy is her family, especially her grandkids!  Her daughter, Melanie is an Indiana Pacemate, so naturally she is a big Pacer fan.

Joe McLain - HAVA Administrator

Joe started working for Secretary Rokita in late 2003 when he was hired as the Indiana Help America Vote Act Administrator.  As HAVA Administrator, Joe helped all 92 counties replace obsolete voting systems with new technology, improve accessibility at polling places across the state for the disabled, and implement the state's first-ever Statewide Voter Registration System.  He has also assisted in the implementation and testing of the Vote Centers concept.  An acknowledged "Army Brat", Joe was born in South Bend, and returned to the state to attend Indiana University in Bloomington where he received a BS in Public Affairs from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs.  He served as the Marion County Election Board Administrator in 2002 following five years employment in various positions for the Indiana House of Representatives.  Joe is happily married and has two young children.

Julia Bauler - HAVA Education and Outreach Director

Julia joined the Secretary’s Office in 2005, where she has advanced to the position of Education and Outreach Director for the Help America Vote Act office.  She has brought youthful energy and passion to the administration of HAVA deliverables, including: managing voter outreach programs, poll worker training and poll worker recruitment initiatives statewide.  Working with each of Indiana's 92 counties, she has helped develop and enhance voter and poll worker education efforts on the grassroots level.  Additionally, she works with numerous non-profit and corporate organizations, assisting with their independent civic engagement programs.  Julia is a graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington, having earned her bachelor's degree in political science and entrepreneurial leadership.

Andrew Weintraut - HAVA Outreach Coordinator

Drew re-joined the Secretary of State’s office in May 2007 as the Help America Vote Act Outreach Coordinator after interning for the office in the summer of 2006.  He helps lead outreach and education efforts to inform Hoosiers on election procedures and reforms.  Drew graduated from Wabash College in 2007 where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric and Political Science.  Drew is a passionate young man who says he is “honored to serve the honest, hardworking people of Indiana.  I take great pride in helping inform Hoosiers on how to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
