State Government Employment

The Indiana State Government is a goal driven, performance oriented, customer focused workforce.  In joining our workforce, you will gain a rewarding experience working on behalf of Hoosiers to build a better Indiana.  As a state employee, it will be important to focus on our F-I-R-S-T principles to help guide you.

First Impressions Count
As you meet new people everyday, greet them with a smile and keep in mind the 'golden rule'.  We want our fellow Hoosiers to always feel welcome and know that as our bosses, we are working hard to serve them.

It Starts With Me
You are a very important link in our chain of Hoosier service, so always strive to put forth your very best effort.  Integrity, communication, and consistency are essential qualities our state asks of you.

Recognize, Respect, Respond
Indiana State Government has its own '3R's' that we expect of each employee.  Recognize where there is a need, respect yourself and those with need, and respond quickly and efficiently to eliminate the need.  By following this pattern, we can work to ensure every Hoosier receives attention and most importantly respect.

Success Through Service
Hoosiers are our customers and our bosses.  We work to serve them in every aspect of their lives: family, business, safety, and much more.  To be a successful state government employee, always remember who we are serving and why.

Take Time To Communicate
Our Hoosiers have many voices saying many different things.  It is important to take time out to hear what some of these voices are saying so that we can learn how better to serve their needs.  Communication is important internally and externally as we strive to uphold all of the F-I-R-S-T principles together.

Now that you know more about what we uphold as state government employees, take a look at what role your agency plays in Indiana state government.
